Adrien Brody shouted out his girlfriend Georgina Chapman and his parents at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards!

As Brody, 51, accepted the Sunday, Jan. 5 ceremony's award for best dramatic movie actor for his performance in The Brutalist, the actor took the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and thanked Chapman, 48, as well as his parents for their impact on his life.

"To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina, your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be," Brody said in his speech as he appeared to tear up. "I would not be standing here before you if it wasn't for you. There was a time not too long ago that I felt that this may never be a moment afforded to me again, so thank you."

Brody and Chapman were first linked romantically in 2019; PEOPLE confirmed the pair were in a relationship in February 2020. The romance made for Chapman's first since she split from disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein in 2017 after he was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. The former couple — who share two children — wed in 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2021.

Elsewhere in Brody's speech, the actor credited his parents as they looked on in the room, saying, "Oh my goodness, you always hold me up." "I often credit my mother for her influence on me as an artist but dad, you are the foundation of this family, and all the love I receive flows back to you," he said.

"This story is really the character's journey is very reminiscent of my mother's and my ancestral journey of fleeing the horrors of war coming to this great country and you know, I owe so much to my mother and my grandparents for their sacrifice," he added. "Although I do not know fully how to express all of the challenges that you have faced and experienced and the many people who have struggled immigrating to this country, I hope that this work stands to lift you up and to give you a voice. I'm so grateful. I will cherish this moment forever, thank you."

Also nominated in the category by were Timothée Chalamet for A Complete Unknown, Daniel Craig for Queer, Colman Domingo for Sing Sing, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave and Sebastian Stan for The Apprentice.

Before its Nikki Glaser-hosted ceremony, which aired on CBS and Paramount+, the 82nd annual Golden Globes announced its nominations on Dec. 9, with Emilia Pérez topping the movies list and Hulu comedy The Bear topping TV categories.

Brody, 51, leads The Brutalist as László Tóth, a Hungarian-born Jewish architect who emigrates to the U.S. to flee the Holocaust. Last nominated for a Golden Globe for 2002’s The Pianist, he also won the Best Actor Oscar for that film. His new historical drama, from director and co-writer Brady Corbet, came into the Golden Globes ceremony with seven nods, including for supporting stars Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce

Capping off a busy year for Chalamet, 29, who led both A Complete Unknown and Dune: Part Two, the actor earned his fourth Golden Globe nod for his performance as Bob Dylan in the former. Directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line), the music biopic depicts the singer-songwriter in the 1960s, alongside fellow Globe nominee Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo and more.

Craig, 56, starred in Luca Guadagnino’s William S. Burroughs adaptation Queer opposite Drew Starkey, Jason Schwartzman and Lesley Manville. Filmed in between Knives Out installments, the dramatic period piece marked Craig’s third nomination from the Golden Globes, plus a Critics Choice nomination and win from the National Board of Review.

Appearing at the Golden Globes for the second year in a row following his nominated work as Bayard Rustin in Rustin, Domingo, 55, is wracking up awards recognition for his work as the formerly incarcerated John "Divine G" Whitfield in Sing Sing. The Emmy winner and Oscar nominee’s performance has earned love from the Gotham Awards, Critics Choice Awards, and Film Independent Spirit Awards in addition to the Globe nod.

The Globe recognition for Fiennes, 62, is one of many for the papal drama Conclave, which earned six nods including for director Edward Berger and supporting actress Isabella Rossellini. Adapted from Robert Harris' hit novel, the film imagines a series of twists in the modern-day Vatican City. Fiennes, a two-time Oscar nominee, now has seven total acting nods from the Golden Globes — with still no wins.

Stan, 42, went into this year’s Golden Globes a leading man nominee two times over, for playing both an actor undergoing transformation in A Different Man and a young Donald Trump in director Ali Abbasi’s biopic The Apprentice. Both constitute the Marvel star's second and third nods from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Brody’s speech follows in full below:

“Thank you to everyone in this room, Golden Globes voters, for this honor, I am deeply humbled by this. I have much to say. I’m going to try and be brief. At the core of ‘The Brutalist,’ it is really a story about the human capacity for creation, so I would be remiss to not acknowledge my fellow nominees. Thank you for giving me wings. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of building this triumph and monument to humanity and the arts.

To my beautiful and amazing partner, Georgina. Your generosity of spirit, your own resilience your immense creativity, are a daily reminder of how to be. I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you. There was a time not too long ago that I felt this may never be a moment afforded to me again, so thank you.

You know, this story is really the character’s journey is very reminiscent of my mother’s and my ancestors’ journey of fleeing war and coming to this great country. Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman’s Relationship: Inside the Actor and Fashion Designer’s 5-Year Romance

Adrien Brody's Emotional Golden Globes Win and Relationship with Georgina Chapman
People

Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman's romance has been going strong for roughly five years.

The pair were first linked in 2019 after reconnecting at a dinner, and PEOPLE confirmed their relationship in early 2020. Brody and Chapman made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021 and have made several public appearances together since.

More recently, the Marchesa co-founder supported Brody at the Gotham Awards in December 2024, where the actor was nominated for outstanding lead performance in his film The Brutalist.

Chapman's romance with Brody marks her first relationship since splitting from disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein in 2017 after he was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. The former couple — who share two children — wed in 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2021. Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison. In April 2024, however, his New York convictions were overturned and he is currently awaiting retrial.

While Brody hasn't opened up about his long-term relationship with Chapman, he did share a funny anecdote about her son when speaking to PEOPLE in 2023.

"My girlfriend's 9-year-old son recently asked me — quite seriously: 'What would you rather eat? Ice cream that tastes like s--- or s--- that tastes like ice cream?' " he recalled of the hilarious hypothetical.

From their red carpet date nights to the surprising fact they have in common, here’s everything to know about Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman’s relationship.

According to various reports, Brody and Chapman were first linked in April 2019 when they were spotted at an event in Puerto Rico. The pair had reportedly met before but reconnected at a dinner for the launch of model Helena Christensen’s swimwear line at the Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton Reserve, per Page Six. The actor and fashion designer were photographed sitting across from each other.

In February 2020, PEOPLE confirmed the couple were in a relationship. The following month, a film industry source told PEOPLE that Brody and Chapman had been seeing each other “for a while” and had “many of the same interests.”

“She thinks he’s unusual and interesting,” the source added. “She finds [him] to be an interesting person with a deep passion for his work that is similar to hers.”

Brody and Chapman made their first red carpet appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021. The pair attended the premiere of Brody's crime thriller Clean and were photographed arm in arm. Brody walked the carpet in a maroon suit and black dress shoes, while Chapman opted for a blue top embroidered with flowers and a sheer black skirt.

Chapman is very supportive of Brody’s acting career and often attends his film premieres. The pair attended the premiere of The French Dispatch at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021, wearing coordinated black ensembles.

The fashion designer was also present for the premiere of Blonde, in which Brody played The Playwright,at the Venice Film Festival in September 2022. In an interview with Vogue, Chapman said that the 14-minute standing ovation the film received “was an incredible moment to witness.” She wore a silver beaded gown by Marchesa, while Brody opted for a black tux.

The couple coincidentally share the same date of birth: April 14. In 2024, Chapman posted a sweet tribute to Brody for their joint birthday.

“Happy birthday my darling twin…so happy to share this day with my best friend #twins #birthday #loveyou,” she wrote in the caption alongside photos of her and the actor.

Though Brody and Chapman have made several public appearances together, they are still a very private couple. The Brutalist actor has yet to share any social media posts with Chapman, while the fashion designer occasionally shares glimpses of their relationship.

In May 2024, Chapman posted photos of the two getting ready for the Met Gala with the caption, “Date night this time last week.” She donned a black-and-white puffy gown by Marchesa, while Brody opted for a black tux with a crystal bird brooch.

Adrien Brody on "The Brutalist"

Adrien Brody's Emotional Golden Globes Win and Relationship with Georgina Chapman
CBS News

Last month, on a boat called the Manhattan, Adrien Brody and I sailed into New York Harbor.  Destination: The Statue of Liberty. He'd been to the landmark before, spending time there with his mother, an immigrant who came to America in 1958.

"My mother and my grandparents fled Hungary during the revolution," Brody said. "There was so much unknown, and a lot of loss. And all of those sacrifices have kind of laid the foundation for my own existence and what has been accessible to me."

Brody's immigrant roots make his latest film, "The Brutalist," a deeply personal one. It's a sweeping, decades-long tale of love, ambition, and a complicated American Dream, all centered around one man, László Toth. "He's a Jewish Hungarian architect who survives the horrors of World War II, and is forced to toil through poverty and rebuild," Brody said.

Toth is hired by a wealthy industrialist to build a massive community center in his "brutalist" style – a form of architecture that's light on decoration and heavy on concrete.

To get Toth just right, Brody drew on his memories of his Hungarian grandfather. "I remember my grandfather's accent was very, very heavy," he said.

"So, do you hear your grandfather's voice a little bit in this character of László?" I asked.

"Oh definitely, yeah, I conjure it up. I also knew every bad word in Hungarian as a kid. So, I infused some of that in it that's not in the script!"

The film's received seven Golden Globe nominations, and Oscar buzz is high. But at three-and-a-half hours, it requires a commitment.

Asked if he was worried about the film's length, Broday replied, "This is an event. Generations before us, you could expect to see something like this in a theater. But that's becoming much more rare today. I think we all need to be fed nourishing meals! And this is one of them."

At 51, Brody's portrayal of a man rebuilding his life after a war makes for a fascinating counterpoint to a role he played more than two decades ago: his Oscar-winning performance of a man enduring the horrors of war in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist."

To play Wladyslaw Szpilman, the real-life pianist who survived the Nazi occupation of Poland, Brody virtually starved himself, losing 30 pounds, all while learning to play the piano.

Learning to play Chopin, he said, quelled his pangs of hunger. "'Cause it was a kind of meditative, intensely-focused activity where I was memorizing. And I became quite proficient at playing minutes of Chopin's Nocturne and a ballade. And I don't even read music."

At 29, he was the youngest man to ever win the Oscar for best actor. The child of an immigrant was living his own American dream.

Adrien Brody was raised in Queens, N.Y. His father, Elliot, is a retired teacher.  His mother, Sylvia Plachy, is a photographer. "As an only child and the son of a photographer, I was her favorite subject," he said. "And so, I had a lens from a very nurturing and ever-present perspective on me. And I think that also helped as a film actor."

"You were comfortable in front of a camera thanks to Mom?" I asked.

"Yes. Thanks to Mom."

He dabbled in magic, calling himself "The Amazing Adrien," but settled on acting by middle school. At 13, he landed a leading role as a rebellious orphan in a made-for-TV movie, "Home at Last."  "I remember thinking how I never wanted it to end," he said. "And that sense of joy that I get from it in that immersion, it's never gone away."

Brody aged into a mohawked punk rocker in Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam." He's carried a blockbuster like "King Kong," and shown some whimsy in his five films with director Wes Anderson, including "The Darjeeling Limited" and "The French Dispatch."

Anderson, said Brody, "has given me a lot of opportunity to do comedic work, more overtly comedic stuff, which at the time when we started working together, I think people just thought I was a serious actor."

"The Brutalist" is a return to his serious side, and maybe a reminder that, as an artist, Adrien Brody is up for anything. "It's a nice moment right now," he said.

I asked, "When you're not working, what makes you happy?"

"Lots of things. I need to be creatively immersed. So, that may be fulfilled through cooking, through painting, through making music. I'm a pretty good cook."

"What do you make?"

"I mean, hot dogs," he laughed. "What do you like? You tell me what would you like? I can whip something up. You can come over one day, come see the artwork. I'll whip up something to eat. I can make some good cocktails."

"You're a mixologist as well?"

"Oh, I can hook it up."

"Okay. What can you not do?"

"Keep my mouth shut!" he laughed. "I need to learn that one!"
