Netflix’s WWE Raw on Monday night kicks off a new era for the WWE and begins the end of John Cena’s wrestling career.

Starting Monday, Netflix will be the exclusive home of World Wrestling Entertainment’s weekly pro wrestling competiton in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Latin America. Netflix noted that the debut of program—which is officially known as WWE Monday Night Raw—marks the first time the program will be streaming in its 31-year history.

According to The Associated Press, the weekly streaming of WWE Raw is part of a 10-year, $5 billion agreement Netflix reached with the WWE in January 2024. Netflix will have an option in five years to extend the deal.

Cena is among the wrestlers set to appear on Netflix’s debut of WWE Raw along with the likes of Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Bianca Belair. WWE Monday Night Raw will begin streaming live on Netflix at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on Monday from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Per ESPN, Cena announced in July of 2024 that he would be retiring with a WWE farewell tour in 2025 and wrestle anywhere between 30 to 40 matches through the end of the year. Cena's done wrestling part-time as he's continued to work on his burgeoning acting career.

In 2024 alone, Cena—whose acting credits include such films as Trainwreck, Bumblebee, The Suicide Squad and its spinoff streaming series Peacemaker—starred in the films Argylle, Ricky Stanicky, Jackpot! and Die Hart 2: Die Harter. In addition did a guest stint on the hit series The Bear in 2024.

During a Zoom conversation prior to the release ofJackpot! in August, Cena was brimming with excitement and anticipation—not sadness—about the beginning of his WWE swan song, which is officially dubbed “The Last Time is Now John Cena Farewell Tour.”

“The goal of it is ‘happy’ and ‘fun.’ It is not sad,” Cena told me. “I’m sure there will be a lot of emotion involved. There’s always a lot of emotion involved every time I perform, but the goal is to bring folks together and have great memories to take away from it.”

John Cena’s WWE wrestling career, per Vulture, began on June 27, 2022, with an impressive Thursday Night SmackDown match against Kurt Angle.

Sometime in between his “The Last Time is Now John Cena Farewell Tour” matches, Cena will return to his role as Christopher Smith—aka Peacemaker—for Peacemaker Season 2 of the DC comic book series on Max. An official release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to debut sometime in 2025.

WWE Raw, which will kick off “The Last Time is Now John Cena Farewell Tour, will stream live on Netflix on Monday at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.

The last time is now.

John Cena kicked off his retirement tour during the Netflix debut of "Monday Night Raw" on Jan. 6.

The WWE superstar has wrestled in a part time capacity since 2018, but announced in July that he expects to wrestle 30 to 40 matches in 2025 to conclude his final year.

During his appearance in the ring at the Intuit Dome, he had quite a list of who could be his opponent for his final match.

Could it be Logan Paul? Would CM Punk suffice? Perhaps Roman Reigns would be more fitting?

But before finding an opponent, Cena -- who hasn't won a match in over 2,000 days -- could use a victory.

Here's a hint at when that could come and more highlights from "The Last Time is Now John Cena Farewell Tour."

"I'm not just going to the Royal Rumble, I'm going to win the Royal Rumble!"

Cena shared that Monday Night Raw's first show of the year would be his final WWE appearance in the City of Angels.

After thanking Los Angeles -- and more specifically, Inglewood -- he made a declaration implicating that he's looking to get his 17th world championship - which would break his tie with Ric Flair for most in WWE history.

While running through the options of how he could achieve that goal, Cena settled on the Royal Rumble before declaring he would win it.

The Royal Rumble is on Feb. 1 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.

John Cena announced Saturday night that he will retire from professional wrestling next year after two decades in the ring.

The wrestler-turned-actor delivered a heartfelt speech to a stadium of World Wrestling Entertainment fans in Toronto, who booed in disappointment as Cena said the 2025 season would be his last. He promised a farewell tour with dozens of dates and an epic final fight, and he assured fans he would remain involved with the wrestling franchise that launched his career.

“Thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years,” Cena told the crowd.

In a news conference after the event, Cena told reporters that he feels physically “at my end,” but that doesn’t mean he needs to distance himself from the sport he loves.

Cena is a 16-time WWE champion who burst onto the scene in the early 2000s as the fan-favorite “Doctor of Thuganomics,” a rapper character decked in gold chains and a backwards hat who challenged his wrestling opponents to rap battles. He went on to portray other popular characters, both in the ring and on the big screen.

Cena played starring roles in the films “Blockers” and “The Suicide Squad.” He has made multiple appearances in the “Fast & Furious” franchise and appeared most recently in the comedy thriller “Argylle” and the box office hit “Barbie.”
