Best red carpet looks at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards
The red carpet at LA’s Beverly Hilton came alive with sparkling sequins and shimmering satin on Sunday, as Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. And the evening’s standout fashion trend was very much on-brand for the annual ceremony: gold.
From the glittering scales of “Anora” star Mikey Madison’s Bottega Veneta gown to Ariana Grande’s intricate 1960s Givenchy archive piece, attendees embraced a variety of golden hues and embellishments. Demi Moore and Mindy Kaling joined in, too, arriving in a sculptural Armani Privé outfit and an Ashi Studio column dress, respectively, while Cate Blanchett wowed in a custom Louis Vuitton gown embroidered with gold beads.
There were plenty of other metallics on display, including Angelina Jolie’s silver beaded Alexander McQueen creation and model Cara Delevingne’s iridescent blue gown. But while many attendees opted for classic silhouettes in demure shades, there were also pops of bright color — red, in particular.
Dakota Fanning, nominated for her role in “Ripley,” turned heads in a strapless red Dolce & Gabbana bodice gown with a daring thigh slit. Elsewhere, Comedian Ali Wong (in Balenciaga), Sheryl Lee Ralph (in custom St. John) and Emma Stone (in Louis Vuitton) also impressed in shades ranging from ruby to burgundy.
The evening’s men, meanwhile, had fun eschewing black-tie convention, with Andrew Scott arriving in an eye-catching baby blue Vivienne Westwood suit and Timothée Chalamet wrapping his Tom Ford tie around his neck like a scarf. Others made their mark with brooches, bows and accessories — perhaps none more divisive than “Succession” actor Jeremy Strong’s velvet bucket hat.

Worst Dressed at Golden Globes 2025: Timothee Chalamet, Melissa McCarthy and More
The 2025 Golden Globes, held on Sunday in Los Angeles, celebrated over eight decades of honoring entertainment excellence. Broadcast on CBS and hosted by Nikki Glaser, the event featured 27 categories, including drama, comedy and limited series. Here, see some of the worst dressed looks on the red carpet.
Timothee Chalamet’s Tom Ford look underwhelmed. We have come to expect so much from him on the red carpet, and this fell short.
Cate Blanchett’s pale gold Louis Vuitton dress didn’t match her reputation for envelope-pushing on the red carpet.
The red Balenciaga haute couture gown may have looked great on the runway, but on the red carpet, it overwhelmed Ali Wong.
Leonie Benesch’s 1920s-esque Chanel didn’t do enough to flatter her shape.
Melissa McCarthy got lost in all the sugary pink ruffles on her Christian Siriano gown.
Eddie Redmayne’s dizzying black-and-checked Valentino suit veered too far into costume territory.
Demi Moore’s custom Giorgio Armani Prive strapless champagne silk gown with curved geometric detail and crystals had too much going on and fell flat.
Sometimes trying to being funny doesn’t land, as demonstrated by Jeremy Strong’s ill-fitting seafoam green velvet suit with matching bucket hat. More appropriate for an Easter egg hunt than a red carpet.
Maya Erskine’s floral Chloe dress was too casual for the first big awards season carpet of the year, and looked daytime.
Gia Coppola’s ill fitting, purple spaghetti strap Valentino dress wasn’t befitting the fashion-loving director.
Best Dressed at Golden Globes 2025: Angelina Jolie Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison and More
Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton. The “Wicked” star has been playing off her character Elphaba on the red carpet and continued to do so here, with a sculptural black volume peplum gown that she said reminded her of her famous accessory.
Emerging style star Mikey Madison wore Mathieu Blazy’s final red carpet look for Bottega Veneta ahead of his move to Chanel. The embellishments on her custom enameled sequin dress reflect his emphasis on craftsmanship during his tenure perfectly and the color was divine.
Naomi Watts’ custom Schiaparelli black velvet strapless gown with 300 organza petals gave a softness to the column silhouette that emerged as an important trend for the night.
The caped back on Keri Russell’s Stephane Rolland couture gown brought a minimalist approach to dressing up and reflected her love “handsome, chic clothes.”
Cristin Milioti stepped into the style spotlight in red carpet favorite Rodarte, a black velvet column and gloves with sequin embroidery that was in line with the dark and moody mob wife feel of her character in “The Penguin.”
Showing the best of what the Chanel atelier can do, Tilda Swinton modeled the house’s iconic jacket as a heavily embellished piece that worked on the red carpet. She continues to make Chanel her own.
Emma D’Arcy brought the new mood of McQueen under Sean McGirr to the Hollywood red carpet taking the traditional men’s tuxedo to a modern, edgy place.
Angelina Jolie nabbed the famous closing look from the McQueen spring 2025 runway show in Paris, sans hood, and brought the drama of that moment to this one.
Anna Sawai took Dior to a harder, more edgy realm in a white leather bustier with white satin wraparound skirt.
Ayo Edebiri
Ayo Edebiri had another winning Loewe moment, this time from the menswear show, wearing a tailored suit with gold feathery necktie that was on-trend. It seemed like a fitting homage to Julia Roberts’ iconic 1990 suit that still resonates today more than ever. After all, the two are coming up together in a film, “After the Hunt.”
Keying into the archival fashion-loving moment was Elle Fanning’s custom recreation of a 1953 Pierre Balmain haute couture reverse champagne flute gown. And the leopard spots were delightful.
Sisters Erin and Sara Foster made classic black sing with luxe 3D embellishments, Erin in Carolina Herrera and Sara in Zuhair Murad.
Zoe Saldana repped Saint Laurent, a producer of her “Emilia Pérez” film, and the sweetheart neckline trend of the night in dazzling black sequins and a brown silk taffeta cape on top.
Pamela Anderson stepped back into Old Hollywood with a classically gorgeous draped black silk faille gown. As she said, who needs makeup when you have a beautiful gown?
Cooper Koch’s black, one-button peak lapel Giorgio Armani tuxedo trimmed in satin with a white evening shirt and bowtie went back to classicism in the best way.
One of the first to step onto the red carpet in Alessandro Michele’s Valentino, Coleman Domingo brought bohemianism (and the bow blouse) back to the red carpet in the best way.
Andrew Scott is always pushing the boundaries of menswear and this turquoise blue crepe Vivienne Westwood was a surprise hit.
Adrien Brody’s three-piece made-to-measure Thom Browne tuxedo with grosgrain tipping and his insane brooch brought the touch of eccentricity and glam the carpet needed.
The frothy white feather drape on Alexandra Daddario’s Vivienne Westwood couture black sequin corseted dress, and the red lip, added a modern twist to a classic silhouette.
